Travertine

Travertine

Travertine is one of the most popular and well-known stones in the world which is formed in the bed of rivers and caves.

This beautiful stone is widely used in construction industries for walls and buildings facade.

Various mineralogical, lithological and geological researches have shown that calcium, stalagmite and stalactite are among the primary and very important compounds in this rock. Iron compounds are among the most important compounds in the formation and creation of patterns and waves created in travertine stones.

Travertine is a semi-crystalline and hard rock that has a porous and sedimentary texture and is mostly found deep in hot water springs. This stone with high density due to its crystalline shape, is used as a stone for the exterior of buildings, decorative stone and strengthening agricultural soils. The greatest variety of this stone is semi-glossy and its glossy and shiny species are very rare. The powder of the stones obtained from this stone is white and will ignite at a temperature of 31 degrees Celsius. This rock is completely soluble in organic and industrial solvents such as hydrocarbons, acetone, phthalates, ethanol and methanol and dissolves in dilute hydrochloric acid.

Travertine stone with specific weight of about 2500 kg/m3, with a striped pattern in white, chocolate, light and dark cream, yellow, red and lemon green is found in nature and in brown and black can be produced in the stone industry.

Travertine is composed of many cavities and porosity and acts as an excellent insulation against sound and heat. The use of this stone as the exterior of buildings has many fans and one of the main reasons is the very high resistance and strength of this stone against heat, wind and heavy rains.
